Reuben L. Lillie

Known for his “virile sound” and “reliable technique” (OPERA TODAY), baritone Reuben L. Lillie has performed on stage recently in with Des Moines Metro Opera, Sugar Creek Opera, Vero Beach Opera, and The Santa Fe Opera. In concert Reuben has served as soloist with Gaudete Brass Quintet, the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, and Downers Grove Choral Society. In competition Reuben has received first prize from the Chicago Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and been named a regional finalist by the Metropolitan Opera National Council. Reuben is also a licensed minister in the Church of the Nazarene and serves as adjunct faculty in the Olivet Nazarene University School of Music. Danis Wilson Apprentice Artist Program alumnus Reuben L. Lillie returns to Sugar Creek. Lillie was an apprentice at Santa Fe Opera in 2013 where he sang the Jury Foreman in the world premiere of Morrison’s Oscar and covered Baron Douphol in La Traviata.
