Maestro Joseph Mechavich is known as a conductor of authority and warmth, who has recently conducted Jake Heggie’s highly acclaimed opera Moby-Dick for both San Diego Opera and Calgary Opera. Maestro Mechavich has paced productions for Deutsche Oper Berlin, The Washington National Opera, New York City Opera, Utah Opera, Kentucky Opera, Florida Grand Opera, The Aspen Music Festival, Madison Opera, Dayton Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera, Opera Birmingham, Tulsa Opera, Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Pine Mountain Music Festival, Intermountain Opera Bozeman and Virginia Opera. Equally at home on the concert stage as in the opera pit, Maestro Mechavich has appeared with the Florida Orchestra, Orlando Philharmonic, Hartford Symphony, Naples Philharmonic, Virginia Symphony and Sarasota Orchestra. In 2013-14 he returns to Kentucky Opera for La bohème, Calgary Opera for Madama Butterfly, Dayton Opera for Tosca and The Florentine Opera for La traviata. The 2014-15 finds Maestro Mechavich in Calgary for the Canadian premiere of Silent Night, Kentucky Opera for both Aida and Fidelio and San Diego Opera for Nixon in China.
